Its No ‘Secret’: Singer Ann Marie Held On No Bail Charges In Alleged Hotel Shooting

R&B singer Ann Marie is best known for her 2018 mega-hit song, “Secret”.

But its not hush-hush where she’s sitting right now: Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail. And Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon and Possession Of A Firearm During Commission Of A Felony (Person of Another) is the case that they gave her, along with no bail.

According to online reports, Ann Marie, legal name JoAnn Marie Slater, was charged after a December 1 incident at the pricey Intercontinental Buckhead Hotel near the city’s downtown sector. A 24-year-old-man who was allegedly sharing the room with Slater was transported to a local hospital, somewhat responsive, but in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to his head.

Atlanta police reported arriving to a chaotic scene, where Slater was screaming hysterically and frantically asking if the victim was dead or if he was gonna be OK. According to reports, Ann Marie told cops she and the victim are lifelong friends who were visiting Atlanta from Chicago together.

Online gossip sites claim Slater allegedly shot the man, her supposed boyfriend, after a dispute over him texting other women; but the singer allegedly told a police officer on scene that “a gun fell off of a table in the hotel room which caused the gun to go off hitting the victim.”

Police weren’t buying the Chicago-born, Interscope artist’s alleged explanation, and arrested her, charging her with the two felony counts. A court date is pending.
